Okay so giving up dairy was not on my postpartum bingo card, but here we are.
After learning my baby had CMPA, I started the process of finding dairy-free versions of all my favorite coffee shop drinks. Some were easy swaps. Others required a little creativity. Some are sadly just out altogether.
BUT! If you’re dairy-free and still want to enjoy a coffee run, these are the drinks I keep coming back to at Scooter’s Coffee. They’re simple and make busy mornings feel a little more enjoyable.
Iced Vanilla Latte with Oat Milk
If you’re looking for a classic coffee shop order, this is the one. This is absolutely my go-to. The oat milk adds a creamy texture and a touch of natural sweetness, while the vanilla syrup keeps things simple.
Order it like this:
Medium iced vanilla latte with oat milk.
Iced Hazelnut Latte
This has become one of my favorite alternatives when I want something a little different. The hazelnut syrup adds a rich, nutty flavor, and it’s sweet without being overwhelming.
Order it like this:
Medium iced latte with oat milk and hazelnut syrup.
Coconut Vanilla Latte
This drink feels like summer in a cup. The combination of coconut and vanilla creates a flavor that’s slightly tropical and a little dessert-like without being too sweet. If you enjoy coconut, this one is worth trying.
Order it like this:
Medium iced latte with oat milk, coconut syrup, and vanilla syrup.
Honey Cold Brew with Oat Milk
This cold brew is smooth, lightly sweetened with honey, and balanced with a splash of oat milk. It’s perfect when you want something refreshing but not overly sugary.
Order it like this:
Medium cold brew with oat milk and honey.
Dairy-Free “Caramelicious”
The famous Caramelicious is one of Scooter’s most popular drinks, but the traditional caramel sauce contains dairy. I like to ‘recreate’ it by using caramel syrup instead. It’s not exactly the same, but it’s surprisingly close.
Order it like this:
Medium iced latte with oat milk and caramel syrup instead of caramel sauce.
Raspberry Vanilla Latte
Hear me out… it’s genuinely so good. The raspberry adds a bright, refreshing flavor that pairs surprisingly well with vanilla.
Order it like this:
Medium iced latte with oat milk, raspberry syrup, and vanilla syrup.
Brown Sugar Latte-Inspired Order
Scooter’s doesn’t currently offer a dedicated brown sugar latte, but this is my favorite way to create a similar flavor. The vanilla and cinnamon combination creates a warm, bakery-like taste that’s so tasty.
Order it like this:
Medium iced latte with oat milk, vanilla syrup, and cinnamon on top.
Final thoughts…
One of the things I’ve learned this year is that small comforts matter.
A favorite coffee order won’t solve a hard season, but it can make an early morning a little brighter, a commute a little easier, or a busy afternoon feel a bit more manageable.
If you’re dairy-free and standing in the Scooter’s drive-thru wondering what to order, hopefully one of these gives you a new favorite to try.
